Charleston, SC August 2, 2018 — On Monday, December 31st, 2018, the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier in Mount Pleasant, SC will not be occupied with the usual wanderers exploring a decommissioned ship. Instead, it will be transformed into the 7th annual Yorktown Countdown.
2018 UPDATE: This year the General Admission option has been eliminated and this will now be an exclusive VIP Only event.
This exclusive New Years Eve Celebration event will provide a top-shelf all-inclusive bar, champagne and light hors-d’oeuvres. Guests will get to enjoy Charleston’s top performing artists and live entertainers as they have handpicked the most popular live bands and DJs in the Lowcountry – They will rock, you will dance! Feel free to explore the entire ship with 3 different stage areas and 15,000 sqft of heated tent space on the flight deck with the best views of the Charleston Harbor, Ravenel bridge and downtown.
From 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM, guests of the event will see live bands and dj’s from all genres imaginable, including funk, rock, dance, and Top 40 Billboard hits. Headlining acts include Charleston’s premier party band, “Motown Throwdown” led by sax man Mike Quinn and the amazing vocalist Kanika Moore. Expect an enormously energetic performance with ripping solos, soulful vocals, and catchy, synchronized melodies on top of a thick, relentless funk driven core.
Next up is “Terraphonics” is the production of songwriter/guitarist Thomas Kenney, and features Alex Kellner on Bass, Brandon Brooks on Drums, and Jonathan Lovett on Keys- as well of a rotating cast of soulful vocalists and M.C.’s – The band’s blend of RnB harmony, dance rhythms, and psychedelic orchestral elements will keep you moving to a higher place. Their special Yorktown performance this New Year’s Eve will feature the soaring vocals of Aisha Kenyetta and lyrical stylings of MC Damn Skippy, making for an unbeatable recipe of hip-hop and soul for you to get down on.
Charleston’s very own master violinist, “Seth G” serves as the high-energy live NYE music entertainment icing on the cake. Through a variety of dance, hip-hop and remixes of all-time classics, Seth’s music is visceral and ear gripping. while others simply call it electronic wonder, littered with multi-layered melodies and mood-altering charm.
Charleston’s favorite female DJ “DJ B” brings a variety of electronic dance grooves and funky beats, guests can’t help moving as a result of the rhythmic beats in the air.
Finally, performances by “Sparkbox” & “Clark Keagy.” This popular duo has been at the nexus of entertainment and nightlife for nearly a decade as one of the go-to live performances for your favorite music impresario in Charleston. Bearing everything from turntables and saxophone to an electronic drum board at times, Spark & Clark offer their audiences a taste of dance, funk, alternative hip-hop and classic throwback vibes.
